Seraing United vs Excelsior Virton 3-1

Seraing United beat Excelsior Virton 3-1 after scoring twice in the second half and adding a stoppage-time third, with the late goal standing after a VAR check. Virton had two decisions go against them near the end, as a penalty was cancelled and then a goal was ruled out.

Seraing went ahead in the 22nd minute when Saliou Faye scored from an assist by Anas Namri for 1-0. Virton drew level in the 38th minute through Paul Wade, assisted by Gaetan Arib, and the sides were level at 1-1 at half-time.

Namri put Seraing back in front in the 56th minute, finishing from Alexandre Tunkadi for 2-1. Seraing then made changes in the 70th and 81st minutes, while Virton used three second-half substitutions in search of a response. That pressure came to nothing after the 89th-minute VAR call against Marks Inchaud for a cancelled penalty and the 90+2th-minute cancellation of his goal, before Fostave Mabani sealed it in the 90+5th minute from Nabil Bouchentouf, who had come on in the 70th minute.

Virton had more of the ball with 57% possession and completed 545 passes to Seraing's 408, but Seraing had more shots, 12 to 6, and more on target, 4 to 2. The home side also finished with 2 corners to 1, 13 fouls to 18, and 4 offsides to 3. xG was close at 0.73 for Seraing and 0.78 for Virton, and both goalkeepers made 1 save.

Discipline was heavier on Virton's side, with yellow cards for Aliou Dembele in the 24th minute, Paul Wade in the 39th minute and Ihab Goudani El Baraka in the 78th minute. Seraing's only booking went to Fostave Mabani in the 62nd minute. There were no red cards.
