Privacy

This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have — on cornerflick.com and in the Cornerflick mobile app.

Cornerflick (“we”, “us”) is an independent football publication. We respect your privacy and collect as little personal data as we can. This policy applies to the website at cornerflick.com and to the Cornerflick mobile app, which displays that same website inside a native shell.

Information we collect

  • Information you send us. If you email one of our addresses (e.g. tips or corrections), we receive your message and address so we can reply.
  • Usage & device data. Like most sites we automatically log basic technical data — IP address, browser/device type, pages viewed, and referring URL — to keep the service secure and to understand what readers find useful.
  • Cookies & similar tech. We use a small number of cookies/local storage for essential functionality and aggregate analytics. See “Cookies & analytics” below.
  • No accounts. Cornerflick has no public sign-up. We do not ask for, or store, account credentials from readers.

The mobile app

The app loads the live website in a secure WebView. In addition to the above, it may request:

  • Notifications. If you grant permission, we can show match alerts. Demo alerts are generated entirely on your device; any future server-sent (push) alerts use a device token that isn’t tied to your identity. You can revoke notification permission at any time in your OS settings.
  • Device storage. Standard app/WebView caches used to load pages faster. You can clear these from your OS app settings.

The app does not access your contacts, location, photos, microphone, or camera.

How we use information

  • To deliver and maintain the website and app.
  • To reply to messages you send us.
  • To measure, in aggregate, what content is read so we can improve it.
  • To detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, or technical issues.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Cookies & analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand traffic in aggregate (e.g. which pages are popular). These cookies don’t identify you personally. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies; doing so won’t break reading Cornerflick.

Service providers

We rely on a small set of vendors to run the service — for hosting and content delivery, aggregate analytics, and live sports data. These providers process data only on our instructions and under their own security and privacy commitments. We don’t share your information with third parties for their own marketing.

Data retention

Emails you send are kept only as long as needed to handle your request and our records. Server logs and aggregate analytics are retained for a limited period and then deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email privacy@cornerflick.com and we’ll respond within the timeframe the law requires.

Children

Cornerflick is a general-audience football publication and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children; if you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we’ll delete it.

International transfers & security

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours; where required we rely on appropriate safeguards. We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls) to protect data, though no method is 100% secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We’ll change the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, give clearer notice. Continuing to use Cornerflick after an update means you accept the revised policy.
