Cancún vs Tapatío 1-0

Cancún beat Tapatío 1-0, with T. Gigena settling it after coming off the bench. His 75th-minute goal gave Cancún the only score of the match and decided a game that had stayed level for most of the night.

The first half passed without a goal, although Tapatío were already on edge after L. Jimenez was booked in the 3rd minute and M. Cendejas followed in the 17th. Cancún then had R. Reyes cautioned on 25 minutes, and the sides went in at 0-0.

The changes came after the break. Cancún sent on G. Preciado for F. Melendre on 59 minutes, while Tapatío made three changes on 65 minutes, with D. Delgadillo, D. Latorre and C. Corona coming on. Cancún then made two changes on 69 minutes and another two on 77 minutes, and it was one of those switches that paid off when Gigena, introduced in the 69th minute, scored on 75 minutes to make it 1-0. He was booked a minute later. Tapatío could not find a reply after that.

The numbers show a tight match rather than a one-sided one, but no team statistics were supplied beyond the timeline and scoreline. The only goal came from a substitute, and Cancún protected the lead through the late changes after Gigena's strike.

Discipline was a factor throughout. Tapatío had L. Jimenez and M. Cendejas booked in the first half, while Cancún's cautions went to R. Reyes in the 25th minute, J. Hernandez on 51 minutes, L. Ruiz on 59 minutes and T. Gigena on 76 minutes.
