Ali Alwan was the best player in the match between Austria and Jordan

Ali Olwan was named man of the match after scoring Jordan's first ever World Cup goal in a 3-1 defeat to Austria in Group J.

The forward struck in the 50th minute with a fine solo move and a precise finish, briefly levelling the game and putting his name into Jordan's football history.

Olwan stayed at the centre of Jordan's attack throughout the match, creating chances and keeping Austria under pressure before the European side took control late on.

Austria regained the lead through an own goal from a Jordan defender, then sealed the points with a stoppage-time penalty.

Olwan had already played a key role in Jordan's historic qualification for the tournament and remains one of the national team's leading scorers on the road to the World Cup.
