Álvarez named man of the match after Argentina beat Switzerland

Argentina forward Julián Álvarez was named the best player on the pitch after his side beat Switzerland 3-1 after extra time in the last World Cup quarter-final.

The two teams were level through 90 minutes before Argentina settled the contest in the additional half-hour to reach the semi-finals.

Álvarez scored Argentina's second goal and was selected as the match's standout player by FIFA's technical committee at full time.
