Carlo Ancelotti has resumed his in-person duties with Brazil after arriving in Rio de Janeiro yesterday, meeting the national teams department at the CBF to finalise the schedule for the months ahead.
First steps in a new cycle
The Brazil coach is tasked with building the side that will start the road to the 2030 World Cup. The first tests come in September’s FIFA international window, which will include three friendly internationals, followed by another break in November 2026.
The first competitive matches will be South American qualifiers for the 2030 World Cup, due to begin in the second half of 2027. Those qualifiers will take place under new rules, with Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay already qualified as hosts of the opening games in the centenary edition.
Youth teams and wider scouting
Ancelotti also stressed the need to connect the senior side more closely with Brazil’s youth teams. That work will continue alongside major commitments, including the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar in November and the start of the next Olympic cycle under Paulo Victor, who also coaches the Under-20s.
Ancelotti and his staff will also continue to watch matches involving Brazilian players and clubs around the world, as well as travelling to see games in the Brazilian league and cup in person.
