Arsenal have completed the signing of Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle in a £75 million deal.
Contract details
The 28-year-old Brazil midfielder has signed a contract that runs until June 2030, with Arsenal holding the option to extend it by a further year.
Guimarães leaves Newcastle after establishing himself as one of their key players and a central figure in the club’s recent rise. He joined from Lyon and quickly settled into midfield, where his passing, ball retention, pressing and attacking runs made him one of the side’s most important players.
What he adds
For Arsenal, the move strengthens a midfield already central to Mikel Arteta’s plans. Guimarães can operate in several roles, helping build play from deep and carrying the ball into advanced areas.
Newcastle lose a popular captain and an important presence in the middle of the pitch, but the fee gives the club significant money to reshape the squad.
