Mikel Arteta has said he wants to stay at Arsenal and sign a new deal, easing concerns over his future as his current contract enters its final year.

The Arsenal manager said supporters “should not be worried” and made clear that he wants to remain at the club. He added that he is happy working with the staff around him and feels grateful for the environment at Arsenal.

Arteta also addressed the timing of any extension, saying the situation will be resolved when there is time to do so. He said there is no issue with the contract timeline because his desire is to stay and he believes the club feels the same way.

Contract talks expected to wait

No new deal has been announced yet, but Arteta’s comments point to a straightforward process rather than a drawn-out dispute.

Arsenal vice-chair Josh Kroenke had previously described extending the Spaniard’s contract as one of the club’s top priorities.
