Asia Cup 2027 could be pushed back a year

According to the Arabic-language outlet winwin, the 19th Asian Cup could be held in 2028 instead of January and February 2027.

What the report says

The report links the possible change to recent developments around the tournament and to AFC updates to its future competition calendar. No formal decision has been announced by the confederation.

The Asian Cup was scheduled for 7 January to 5 February 2027 in Saudi Arabia. Riyadh, Jeddah and Khobar are due to host matches, with 24 teams competing for the continental title across eight stadiums.

What happens next

If the delay is confirmed, the gap between Asian Cup editions would remain at four years and the 2032 tournament would stay on the existing schedule.

The AFC has not said whether it will rule on the 2027 edition before its Asian football awards ceremony, which is set for 4 December in Thailand, or leave the plan unchanged.
