Tottenham defender Cristian Romero is edging closer to a move to Atletico Madrid, with talks between the two clubs said to be entering the final stages.
Atletico's bid nears Spurs agreement
Fabrizio Romano reports that Atletico are moving towards a final agreement with Spurs and are expected to send a fresh offer soon. Romero has also given the green light to the move, while a personal contract is being prepared.
Recent reports have placed the fee in the region of €40m, although the exact payment structure and add-ons still need to be settled between the clubs.
Arsenal and Barcelona not in the picture
Tottenham have no appetite for selling Romero to Arsenal, with a transfer to their London rivals never part of the plan.
Barcelona have also not opened talks with Spurs over the Argentina international and have not tabled a formal bid. Their focus at this stage is said to be on Rodrygo instead.
