Arthur Dias has emerged as a target for Atletico Madrid after his first call-up to Brazil’s senior squad drew further attention from Europe.
Europe move in focus
According to TalkSPORT, Atletico are monitoring the 19-year-old Athletico Paranaense centre-back alongside Tottenham and Nottingham Forest. Dias has been named in Brazil’s latest squad for friendlies against Australia and India.
The call-up from Carlo Ancelotti has increased interest in the defender, who has come through the Athletico Paranaense academy and established himself in the senior side since last year. He has been a regular for the club in this season’s Brazilian Serie A.
Contract situation
Athletico Paranaense are understood to want to extend Dias’s contract, which runs until 2028, as demand grows for the youngster.
Other reports have also suggested several European clubs are keeping tabs on him. For now, Dias’s place in the Brazil squad looks like the biggest step in a career that is starting to attract attention beyond Brazil.
