Barcelona are weighing Victor Osimhen as a serious attacking option in the closing days of the summer transfer window, as the club looks for cover if a move for Julián Álvarez fails.
Alvarez remains the main target
Álvarez is still Barcelona’s preferred choice to replace Robert Lewandowski, but Atlético Madrid are holding a firm line on the Argentina forward. The club have reportedly turned away sizeable offers and do not want to sell him.
That has pushed Barcelona to examine alternatives more closely, with Osimhen now among the names under Deco’s consideration.
Osimhen emerges as a possible fallback
Osimhen offers a different profile: powerful, quick and a proven scorer with top-level European experience. After his successful spell at Napoli, he joined Galatasaray last season and became one of their key attacking players in Turkey.
A deal would still be difficult. Galatasaray want to keep the Nigeria striker, and any negotiations would likely require a substantial bid. Barcelona also have to factor in their financial position before choosing their next No 9.
Lautaro Martínez had also been mentioned as a leading alternative to Álvarez, but Inter president Giuseppe Marotta has said the captain is a key player and that the club do not intend to sell him. No agreement has been reached for Osimhen.
