Brazil ended the 2026 World Cup in 11th place after a 2-1 defeat to Norway in the last 16, one of the weakest finishes in the country's World Cup history.
The result is Brazil's second-worst finish across 23 World Cup appearances. Their only poorer campaign came in 1934, when they lost their first match to Spain and finished 14th.
The 11th-place finish matches Brazil's position at the 1966 World Cup, when they went out in the group stage of the 16-team tournament.
Brazil remain the only five-time World Cup winners, with titles in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002. They have also finished runners-up in 1950 and 1998, taken third place in 1938 and 1978, and come fourth in 1974 and 2014.
There have also been several early exits in their World Cup record. Brazil finished fifth in 1954, 1982, 1986 and 2006, and sixth in 1930, 2010 and 2018.
