Brazil have been encouraged by Neymar’s latest MRI, which showed his recovery from a right calf muscle injury is progressing as expected.
The Brazil Football Federation said the Santos forward remains on his rehabilitation plan after the scan on Monday. The medical staff believe his recovery is moving within the timeframe they anticipated.
Neymar suffered the grade-two muscle injury on 17 May while playing for Santos in the Brazilian league. Brazil said it will take care over his return to action as he continues the treatment and conditioning programme set out by the national team’s medical staff.
The update gives Brazil a lift with the World Cup approaching, but there has been no suggestion of a change to the cautious approach around his comeback.
