Fabio Cannavaro says Uzbekistan expect a different test against DR Congo in their final group game at the 2026 World Cup.
Uzbekistan have lost both of their opening matches, conceding eight goals against Colombia and Portugal, and sit bottom of the group without a point. Even a win over Congo may not be enough to send them through as one of the best third-placed teams.
Cannavaro said Congo are experienced and physical, but more manageable than Uzbekistan’s first two opponents. He added that the pressure on his players has eased after facing two of the tournament’s strongest sides.
The 2006 World Cup winner said he had tried to take the mental strain off his squad from the moment the draw was made. He told them to move on from the heavy defeat to Portugal and focus on the game that had been the target since day one of the tournament.
