Ciro Immobile has retired from professional football at the age of 36, ending a 17-year career that made him one of Italy’s most prolific forwards.
Final spell at Paris FC
Immobile joined Paris FC from Bologna in February and made 12 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring twice. The French club said he had decided to step away from the game so he could spend more time with family and close friends.
Lazio record and Italy honours
His best years came at Lazio, where he scored 207 goals in 340 matches over eight seasons and became the club’s all-time leading scorer. He also won the Coppa Italia once and the Italian Super Cup twice with the Rome side.
Immobile scored 306 goals in 599 club games in all competitions and netted 17 times in 57 appearances for Italy. He played at Euro 2020, scoring twice as Italy beat England on penalties in the final at Wembley.
He won the European Golden Shoe in 2020 after scoring 36 Serie A goals in a season, matching Gonzalo Higuaín’s league record. He finished as Serie A’s top scorer four times.
