City are said to have finalised a €135 million move for Elliott Anderson from Nottingham Forest during the 2026 World Cup. The England midfielder has been presented as a high-character option with range in passing and the potential to step into Rodri’s role.
Bouaddi close to joining too
The club are also nearing a €130 million deal for Ayyoub Bouaddi, the 18-year-old Lille midfielder who featured for Morocco at the 2026 World Cup. He has been described as one of the most talented young midfielders in world football.
Taken together, the two deals amount to around €265 million. City’s spending underlines how highly they value Rodri and how difficult it is to replace a midfielder of his standing.
