DR Congo will take a more attacking approach against Uzbekistan in their final Group stage match at the 2026 World Cup, coach Sebastien Desabre said on the eve of the game.
Congo go into the fixture on one point after their draw with Portugal, while Uzbekistan have lost both of their opening matches and conceded seven goals in total.
Desabre said the team chose a 2-3-5 system for the games against Portugal and Colombia because of the rankings of those opponents, and added that the shape worked well. He pointed to a small mistake on the left side as the reason for the defeat to Colombia.
For the Uzbekistan match, he said the side will be set up to score. "We know exactly what we need to do to go through," he said.
Desabre also discussed striker Yoane Wissa, saying the forward has looked like his old self again since returning to camp. He said Wissa had a difficult spell after joining Newcastle because of injury, but has impressed him in training and should get back to his best level.
