Ousmane Dembele has defended Kylian Mbappe after fresh criticism from Spanish media, saying the Real Madrid forward is being judged too harshly.
Speaking to a French outlet, Dembele said people go too far with their complaints simply because Mbappe is Mbappe. He described his France team-mate as an outstanding player and said he has known him for a long time off the pitch as well.
The comments come after Mbappe's first season at Real Madrid produced 48 goals and 13 assists in all competitions following his free transfer in summer 2024. Even so, he remains a target for heavy scrutiny in Madrid-based papers including Marca and AS.
After Madrid's 3-0 win over Valladolid, Mbappe did not score and Marca reacted sharply. Some reports have also claimed his relationship with Vinicius Junior has worsened, although the club has denied those suggestions.
