Egypt head towards the 2026 World Cup aiming to reach the knockout stage for the first time in their history.
According to Qatar’s Al Raya, Hassan wants a different approach from previous Egypt sides, using a mix of senior players and younger talent rather than the team’s traditional defensive shape.
The squad are currently in the United States and preparing for a friendly against Brazil. Egypt have qualified for the World Cup for the fourth time, but in their 92-year history in the competition they have never made it past the group stage.
Hassan has led Egypt through qualification without major problems, giving the coach and his players more confidence heading into the tournament.
Egypt have been drawn in Group G with Belgium, Iran and New Zealand. The group has been described as evenly balanced, with all four teams seen as capable of progressing.
