England held by Ghana in goalless Group L draw

England were held to a goalless draw by Ghana in their second Group L match at the 2026 World Cup.

Thomas Tuchel’s side controlled possession for long spells, but Ghana sat deep and limited the game’s chances. The Africans did not manage a shot on target, while England’s late pressure included a Harry Kane effort that struck the woodwork.

Carlos Queiroz, whose Iran side lost 6-2 to England at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, was involved in a touchline clash with Jude Bellingham at the end of the first half.

Declan Rice and Inaki Williams were booked. The result leaves England top of the group on four points, level with Ghana, who sit second on goal difference.

England opened with a 4-2 win over Croatia, while Ghana beat Panama 1-0. FIFA president Gianni Infantino and former England players David Beckham and John Terry watched from the stands.
