Chelsea face a late decision over Enzo Fernández after he reached an oral agreement on personal terms with Manchester City.
Fee talks still to come
City have not yet made a formal offer, but talks between the clubs are expected to begin soon. With the transfer deadline approaching, there is little time left to settle the fee.
Fabrizio Romano wrote on X that Fernández has agreed terms with City, while the move still depends on the two clubs. He added that City have yet to submit an official bid and that contact should follow shortly. Romano also said Fernández could be left out of the squad again this week.
Chelsea may need a replacement
Fernández’s future at Chelsea has looked uncertain since the start of the new season. Xabi Alonso left the Argentina midfielder out of the squad for the League Cup match against Luton Town, which Chelsea won.
City have already reshaped their midfield this summer. The club have signed Elliot Anderson and Ayoub Bouaddi, while the departures of Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Nico González have increased the need for another midfielder.
