Barcelona have opened the new season without a clear replacement for Robert Lewandowski or Ferran Torres up front, but Hansi Flick has already found a workaround by reshaping his team.
Raphinha used centrally
In the early weeks of La Liga, Flick has pushed Raphinha into a central striking role. The winger has scored three goals in that position, underlining how quickly he has adapted to the change.
Tactical flexibility across the pitch
Flick has also continued to move players around elsewhere. Eric García has been used at right-back, Gerard Martín has featured in the middle of defence and Xavi Espart has been deployed on the left.
That flexibility gives Barcelona options to alter shape during matches. Jules Koundé can be used in central defence, while Christensen and Eric García can also play as defensive midfielders.
Barcelona are not locked into one attacking formula either. Dani Olmo and Fermín López can both take on a more advanced role when needed, with Raphinha now an established central option.
Even without a classic number 9, Barcelona have not had major scoring problems in the opening weeks. Flick will hope that approach keeps them in the mix across the season.
