Haaland double sends Norway past Brazil

Norway knocked Brazil out of the 2026 World Cup with a 2-1 win in the round of 16, with Erling Haaland scoring twice in the second half. Brazil missed a penalty before the break, then could not convert a series of chances after the interval.

Bruno Guimarães failed from the spot in the first half, while Carlo Ancelotti later sent on Neymar after his forwards, including Endrick, had not found a way through.

Haaland broke the deadlock in the 79th minute and added a second in the 90th. Neymar pulled one back for Brazil in stoppage time, but it came too late to change the result.

Ismail Elfath officiated the match.

Brazil lined up with Alisson, Danilo, Marquinhos, Gabriel, Santos, Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães, Martinelli, Ryan, Matheus Cunha and Vinicius. Norway started with Nyland, Pedersen, Ajer, Heggem, Møller Wolfe, Ødegaard, Sander Berge, Patrick Berg, Sørloth, Haaland and Nusa.
