Erling Haaland said he hopes England go on to win the World Cup after Norway's extra-time quarter-final defeat. England came from behind to win, with Jude Bellingham scoring twice after Andreas Schjelderup had put Norway ahead in the first half.
The Manchester City striker, who was born in Leeds, said he has long supported England as well as Norway. He pointed to his City team-mates James Trafford, Marc Guehi, Nico O'Reilly and John Stones, along with France's Rayan Cherki and Spain's Rodri, as part of that connection.
"Yes, why not?" Haaland told reporters. "It is natural that I want England to do well and win the World Cup." He added that he had supported England since childhood and may even have worn an England shirt before he had a Norway one.
Norway's defeat ended their first World Cup appearance in 28 years. England now move on in the competition after Bellingham's double turned the tie around.
