Haaland scores twice as Norway beat Iraq 4-1

Norway beat Iraq 4-1 in their second Group I match at Boston Stadium, with Erling Haaland scoring twice on his World Cup debut.

Haaland opened the scoring in the 29th minute after pouncing in front of goal, but Iraq levelled before the break when Aymen Hussein met Amir Al-Amari’s delivery with a header in the 39th minute.

Norway restored the lead four minutes later through Haaland, who capitalised on a defensive mistake to make it 2-1. The Vikings kept control after half-time and added a third in the 77th minute when Leo Østigård headed in Martin Ødegaard’s cross.

Kristian Thorstvedt completed the scoring in the ninth minute of added time, sealing a result that puts Norway on three points and above France after the opening day.
