Iran drew 1-1 with Egypt at Lumen Field in Seattle and must now wait on results elsewhere to see if it can advance from Group G.
Egypt struck first through Mahmoud Saber in the fifth minute after a quick start from Iran. Iran then won a penalty through Mehdi Taremi, but he missed the spot-kick before Rezaeian levelled three minutes later.
Iran looked the better side in the first half, though the match settled after the equaliser. After the break, Iran struggled to create a clear plan for a second goal and Egypt had more of the ball.
Hossein Kanaanizadegan, Ali Nemati and Saeid Ezatolahi were booked for Iran, while Saber and Yasser Ibrahim were booked for Egypt. Iran thought it had won it late on when Khalilzadeh scored, but the goal was disallowed.
Belgium's 5-1 win over New Zealand left Belgium top of the group on five points, with Egypt second on the same total and Iran third on three. New Zealand finished bottom with one point.
