Iraq were hit by an early injury blow in their World Cup 2026 group game against France, with Ayman Hussein unable to continue in the first half.
The match at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia saw France go ahead in the 14th minute through Kylian Mbappe. The opener came after a quick passing move with Michael Olise before Mbappe finished from outside the box into the corner.
Hussein, a key part of Iraq's attack, then felt discomfort in the 26th minute and had to go off. Graham Arnold responded by sending on Ali Al-Hamadi for the 30-year-old striker.
The setback made Iraq's task harder as they tried to respond to France's early lead.
