Ladislav Krejci ended the Czech Republic's 20-year wait for a World Cup goal by heading in against South Korea in the 59th minute.
The Czech captain met a long throw from Vladimir Coufal and guided a precise header past the goalkeeper to put his side in front. It was the country's first goal at the tournament since Tomas Rosicky scored twice in a 3-0 win over the United States in 2006.
Krejci marked the moment by copying Rosicky's familiar celebration, spreading his arms and looking upwards.
The goal closed a long barren spell for the Czech Republic on football's biggest stage and sent Krejci into the record books for his country.
