Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca has set a Premier League record by winning his first seven matches in charge of a club.
Historic start
City beat Ipswich Town 3-2 in the seventh round of the league to make it seven wins from seven for the Italian, who replaced Pep Guardiola in the summer of 2026. Phil Foden scored once and Erling Haaland added two more as City moved on to 21 points.
The result left City six points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table.
Run behind the record
Maresca had already matched the best starts previously set by Guardiola at City, Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea and Ole Gunnar Solskjær at Manchester United with six straight wins. The win over Ipswich put him alone at the top of that list.
City have beaten Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Coventry City, Manchester United, Sunderland, Liverpool and Ipswich during the run. They have scored 19 goals and conceded seven across those seven matches, including a 3-0 win at Anfield against Liverpool.
The run has come while City face major scrutiny over their financial case, and after a recent defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Domestic form holds up
Maresca has kept City perfect in league play and opened his reign with a record no other Premier League manager has managed.
