Mexico beat the Czech Republic 3-0 at Estadio Azteca to finish the World Cup group stage with nine points from three games and top Group C.
Mateo Chavez opened the scoring in the fifth minute, Julian Quinones made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute, and Alvaro Fidalgo added a third in stoppage time. Mexico had already secured a place in the round of 16 before kick-off after winning their first two matches.
The Czech Republic ended the group stage bottom of the section with one point.
In the other Group C match played at the same time, South Korea lost 1-0 to South Africa. That result took South Africa through in second place with four points. South Korea finished on three points and must wait to see whether it advances as one of the best third-placed sides.
