The biggest moment came in the 75th minute, when Carlo Ancelotti sent Neymar on. The substitution drew a strong reaction from the crowd as the Brazil forward made his first appearance at this World Cup.
Neymar posted on social media after coming on: "Don't forget who you are." Speaking to reporters after the game, he said he had not been thinking about anything specific when he entered the pitch, only about enjoying the moment and playing at a World Cup again in a Brazil shirt.
He added that the return had not been straightforward and said he felt completely calm on the pitch.
Neymar had been absent from the national team for more than two years. His last Brazil appearance came on 17 October 2023, when he suffered a serious knee injury in a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in Montevideo.
