Manchester United's shaky start to the season has increased pressure on Michael Carrick after the club were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds United.
Results leave United short
United have taken only two wins from their 10 matches this season, alongside four defeats and four draws. Their victories came against Ipswich and Sabah, while losses to Hull City, Manchester City, Brighton and Atletico Madrid have added to the concern around Old Trafford.
Draws with Everton, Fulham, Tottenham and Leeds have left the side without enough control in games they might have expected to win. The Leeds result showed some improvement, but it did not end the run of dropped points.
Carrick's position depends on results
Carrick's situation looks more unsettled when this season's form is set against last year's more encouraging spell, when he had earned praise during his interim stint before taking the job permanently. He has yet to find the consistency expected of the team.
According to reports in the sports press, the board's decision will depend on the next set of results and on whether the team shows clear progress. If United keep failing to win, Carrick's future could come under even greater scrutiny.
