PSG eye Pablo Barrios move in January

Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Atletico Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios and may make a sizeable bid in the January transfer window, according to Foot01 and TransferFeed.

PSG monitor the Atletico midfielder

The European reports say PSG believe the 21-year-old Spaniard could strengthen Luis Enrique's midfield. The interest is said to come as the French champions look for young players who can stay important for several seasons.

A figure of €70m has been mentioned as a possible offer, but no formal bid has been reported and there is no agreement between the clubs.

Atletico's position on a sale

Barrios came through Atletico's academy and has become an important part of Diego Simeone's plans in recent seasons. His ability to play in several midfield roles, carry the ball and help build attacks has made him valuable to the Atletico coach.

Atletico extended his contract in 2025 until 30 June 2030, which gives the club more room to negotiate over his future. Even so, Simeone is said to be unwilling to lose one of his main midfield players.
