PSG’s stuttering start to the season continued with a 2-1 home defeat to Monaco on 4 September, leaving Luis Enrique’s side without a win in four straight matches.
A run that has gone sour
The European champions began the campaign by beating Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup, but the results have gone against them since then. They lost 1-0 to Lens in the French Super Cup, drew 2-2 with Rennes in their Ligue 1 opener and were held 2-2 by Lille, with Marquinhos and Vitinha rescuing a point late on.
Monaco completed the sequence at the Parc des Princes. Marquinhos put PSG ahead, but the visitors turned the game around with two second-half goals.
Pressure on the early table
PSG have still not won in Ligue 1 this season and have two points from three matches. Monaco, meanwhile, have three straight wins and sit top of the table.
Luis Enrique has played down any alarm, saying the squad needs time after a busy summer of changes and a short pre-season. He recently extended his contract until 2030, a sign that the club remains committed to his project.
