Paris Saint-Germain are close to a decision over the site of their future stadium, with a move to stay at the Parc des Princes potentially costing close to €2 billion.
The options on the table
According to Le Parisien, PSG will hold another round of talks with the relevant officials before choosing between Paris, Poissy and Massy. The club want clarity over the issue in the coming weeks.
The most expensive option is to remain at the Parc des Princes, which would require PSG to buy the stadium from Paris city council before starting a major redevelopment. Current plans under review would take capacity from about 48,000 to around 70,000.
What a Parc des Princes project could include
One proposal would cover part of the nearby ring road to create a large public space around the ground. PSG-specific buildings, the club museum, an official store and several sports facilities could also form part of the project.
Le Parisien says the combined cost of the purchase, redevelopment and surrounding urban works could reach roughly €2 billion. If PSG do not reach a final agreement with Paris city council, a new stadium in the capital’s suburbs remains an alternative.
