Amir Qalae-Noui said Iran should have beaten New Zealand after a 2-2 draw and admitted he was unhappy with the result despite praising the performance.
He called it the best match of the first round and said Iran had enough chances to win. But he pointed to two efforts on Iran's goal that both ended in goals, leaving him dissatisfied with the outcome.
Qalae-Noui also said Iran had wanted to arrive in the United States earlier to help the team adapt, but were not allowed to do so. He said the squad is still not fully adjusted and that substitutions were used in an attempt to cover that weakness.
Looking ahead, he said the team must rest, recover and review the footage before working more on the weak points ahead of the next game.
