Ramin Rezaeian was named the match’s best player after Iran’s 1-1 draw with Egypt in Seattle on Saturday, as his goal earned Iran a point in their final Group G game at the 2026 World Cup.
Iran and Egypt met at 6:30am Tehran time in their third match of the group stage, with both sides finishing level. Rezaeian’s strike was Iran’s only goal of the game, and he also took the man of the match award against New Zealand.
Belgium finished top of Group G on five points and went through to the next round. Egypt also moved on with five points but finished second on goal difference.
Iran ended the group in third place on three points and must wait to see whether they advance. New Zealand finished bottom with one point from a draw.
