Ramin Rezaeian was named the standout player as Iran drew 2-2 with New Zealand in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup group stage.

The right-back scored Iran's first goal in the 33rd minute before providing a precise cross for Mehdi Taremi's second in the 64th minute. Rezaeian's contribution meant he had a direct hand in both of Iran's goals.
