Real Madrid have sent their international scouting chief to watch Yan Diomande at the World Cup, with the Ivory Coast winger now drawing attention from several major European clubs.
Marca says Juni Calafat was at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Monday to watch Ivory Coast’s match against Ecuador. Diomande, who played on the left, was named man of the match after a strong display.
The 19-year-old’s rise has accelerated since Leipzig paid €20 million for him a year ago. His season in the Bundesliga has already turned him into one of the most closely watched young players in Europe.
Liverpool have been linked with a move in recent weeks and are reported to be best placed to complete a transfer this summer. Paris Saint-Germain have also been mentioned as a possible destination.
Transfermarkt currently values Diomande at €90 million, although competition for his signature could push any deal above €100 million. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Leipzig want to keep him for another season, but that may prove difficult if the player pushes to leave now.
