Sabah Azerbaijan beat Slavia Prague 2-0 in Baku to claim their first European win and become only the second club from the country to win a Champions League match.
First home win in the competition
The result at the Baku Olympic Stadium came in Sabah's second Champions League game and their first home tie in the tournament. Jamaican forward Paris scored Sabah's first European goal, with the source crediting him for the decisive breakthrough.
Sabah had lost 4-0 away to Manchester United in the opening round, which had prompted concern among some Azerbaijani supporters about how the new club would represent them in Europe. They answered that defeat with a clean sheet and a two-goal win against the Czech side.
Only Qarabag had won before
Before this match, Qarabag were the only Azerbaijani team with a victory recorded in Champions League history. Sabah, founded in 2017, have now joined them after a result that gave the Baku club their first success in the competition.
