Lionel Scaloni said he was proud of Argentina after they came from 2-0 down to beat Egypt 3-2 in the last 16 of the 2026 World Cup.
The result sent Argentina into the quarter-finals after one of the round’s most dramatic matches. Scaloni, speaking shortly after the game, kept his remarks brief as he appeared emotional.
“I am proud of this team,” he said. “My players showed their true character and fought until the very last moment. This victory belongs to all the people of Argentina.”
