Norway Head Coach: The Last 10 Minutes Against Senegal Were Very Tough

Ståle Solbakken said the closing stages felt like a nightmare after Norway edged Senegal 3-2 in their second Group I match at the 2026 World Cup.

Norway clinched progression with the victory, moving to six points and sitting second in the group behind France on goal difference.

Solbakken said the final 10 minutes were the longest of his life and admitted his side lost control late on. He also praised Erling Haaland, who scored Norway’s second and third goals to turn the match in their favour.

"Haaland is the best striker, but remember he does not play for France or Argentina — he plays for Norway," Solbakken said.

The Norway coach added that he plans changes before Friday night’s meeting with France in Boston, but stressed that the adjustments will come from rotation rather than any reluctance to try to win. He said the line-up may still surprise observers.
