Tuchel bans England players from leaping advertising boards

Thomas Tuchel has banned England players from jumping over advertising boards during celebrations after Jordan Henderson suffered a wrist injury in the win over Mexico.

England’s 3-2 victory quickly turned sour when the 36-year-old midfielder tried to leap the boards to celebrate with supporters, lost his balance and fell awkwardly. Henderson was taken to a hospital in Mexico City on a stretcher, later had surgery and will miss the rest of the World Cup.

Speaking to the BBC, Tuchel said Henderson “just fell” and damaged his wrist, adding that the injury appears serious enough to rule him out for the remainder of the tournament.

The incident has led to an immediate clampdown in England’s camp. According to the BBC, Tuchel has told players not to jump over the boards when celebrating goals or wins, after the medical staff described the accident as a preventable disaster.
