Vinícius banned for four La Liga matches

Vinícius Júnior has been handed a four-match ban in Spain and will miss Real Madrid's trip to Barcelona for El Clásico on 25 October.

What the ban covers

Spain’s disciplinary committee punished the Brazil winger for incidents in the Villarreal match. According to the source material, he received two games for violent conduct away from the ball and two more for his protests after the red card.

Vinícius was sent off in the second half after VAR reviewed the incident involving Villarreal's Nathan Sileba. His goal in the match was also ruled out for a foul before the ball went in.

Matches he will miss

The suspension applies to La Liga only, so Vinícius can still feature in Real Madrid's Champions League fixtures.

He is due to miss Real Madrid vs Sevilla, Barcelona vs Real Madrid, Racing Santander vs Real Madrid and Valencia vs Real Madrid. The report says he is expected to return to league action against Celta Vigo in November.
