Vinícius Junior was named man of the match after scoring twice in Brazil’s 3-0 win over Scotland at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Brazil took the lead in the seventh minute when Scotland defender Scott McKenna made a loose pass, Ryan intercepted it and Vinícius slipped in to finish into an empty net. He thought he had doubled the lead in the 22nd minute, but the goal was ruled out after a VAR review for a foul on Jack Hendry.
Brazil did not wait long for a second goal. Deep into first-half stoppage time, Andrew Robertson’s poor pass was cut out by Bruno Guimarães, who clipped a precise cross to the far post for Vinícius to head home.
Matheus Cunha added the third in the 60th minute to seal the result. Vinícius also became the fifth Brazil player to score in all three group-stage matches at a World Cup, following the likes of Jairzinho, Romário, Ronaldo and Rivaldo.
