Referees at this summer's World Cup could earn up to $100,000, with further bonuses available for appointments in the latter stages of the tournament.
The figures come from an exclusive report by The Times and are said to be almost twice the money paid to referees at the 2014 World Cup. The increase is presented as part of FIFA's effort to use the strongest officials available for the tournament.
FIFA has selected 52 centre referees for the competition, along with 88 assistant referees and 30 VAR officials.
