M. Sangaré

Mamadou Sangaré is a dynamic, left-footed midfielder who combines defensive intensity with quality on the ball. He excels at winning possession, covering ground, and turning defensive actions into forward momentum. At Lens, he developed into a complete midfielder, recording three goals and four assists in Ligue 1 in 2025/26 and earning the Marc-Vivien Foé Award.

At Brentford, Sangaré's role is built around giving the midfield energy, defensive coverage and progression. He can operate as part of a midfield pivot, where his ability to recover possession and cover large areas allows teammates greater freedom to advance. His job does not end with winning the ball: he is expected to carry possession forward, find progressive passes and help Brentford move quickly from defence into attack. That profile fits Keith Andrews' emphasis on an energetic, adaptable midfield, with the manager describing Sangaré as a player capable of performing many different aspects of the role. His early partnership with Vitaly Janelt has already shown how his ball-winning and mobility can provide a strong platform for Brentford's possession and pressing game.
