West Ham vs QPR 1-1

QPR left London Stadium with a 1-1 draw after Nicolas Madsen’s 18th-minute penalty put them ahead and Jarrod Bowen equalised in the 70th minute. Bowen had a chance to win it deep in stoppage time, but his 90+1-minute penalty was missed.

Madsen converted from the spot on 18 minutes to make it 1-0. West Ham had already had Arne Engels booked on 17 minutes, and the home side went in at the break trailing after a first half that produced only one goal.

West Ham made two changes at half-time, sending on Edvin Austbö and Pablo Felipe Pereira de Jesus for Kyle Walker-Peters and Tomáš Souček. They made two more on 68 minutes when Lewis Orford and Joel Piroe replaced Divine Mukasa and Manor Solomon. QPR made a single change on 60 minutes and then another two on 69, and while Bowen’s equaliser on 70 minutes made it 1-1, neither side found another goal. The late missed penalty meant the hosts could not turn their possession into a winner.

West Ham had 65% of the ball, 600 passes and 4 corners to QPR’s 35%, 327 and 1, while also leading 12 shots to 7, 5 on target to 3 and 1.68 expected goals to 1.23. QPR matched them on 9 fouls and had the higher save count, 4 to 2, which kept the game level after the equaliser.

West Ham had 3 yellow cards: Arne Engels on 17 minutes, Maximilian Kilman on 62 and Felipe Morato on 65. QPR had 4: Boy Kemper on 24 minutes, Glen Kamara on 66, Richard Kone in 90+1 minutes and Amadou Salif Mbengue on 90 minutes. There were no red cards.
