Mexico head coach Javier Aguirre praised his players after a 1-0 win over South Korea in their second group game at the 2026 World Cup.
Aguirre said the team went into the match with more confidence than in their opening fixture and carried out the coaching staff's tactical plan effectively. He had told his squad before kick-off that there was no room left for stress or mistakes from the opener, and that they needed to stay fully focused.
The Mexico boss also highlighted South Korea's pace on the break, describing them as one of the quickest teams in the tournament. He said Mexico handled that threat through disciplined defending and control of midfield.
Aguirre thanked the Mexico supporters for their strong backing and said it had been an important part of the result. He added that six points from two matches represented a strong start, but stressed that Mexico still want to keep winning and finish top of Group A.
